Mass timber, retrofit research, and circular materials work, in partnership with Auckland-based main contractors.

Featured project

Mass-timber high-rise feasibility for central Auckland

test: A two-year applied research project bringing together construction, engineering, and quantity-surveying students with three Auckland-based main contractors. The team is modelling the cost, embodied-carbon, and procurement implications of taking mass-timber buildings beyond the eight-storey threshold currently common in Aotearoa.

Outputs include an open BIM dataset, a peer-reviewed journal article, and a public-facing white paper aimed at developers and council planners.
